Greenbelt 2021

The newly planted evergreens (94 total along I-57) are called Arborvitae. The cultivar name is ‘Green Giant’. They are a fast growing disease free evergreen that forms a great hedge. They are the same as the evergreens currently planted around the I-72 pond. Swamp white oaks were planted in the retention area along Staley. They can tolerate wet conditions along with the Bald Cypress which are also planted there. We also planted 2 swamp white oaks and 3 red oaks along the I-72 sidewalk to replace 5 maples that died.
